Hi Hi! Its been such a long time since I last blogged. Didn't purposely went MIA like I mentioned on my last post. Its really been busy busy since the 1 Nov.
Start of NCOC, all sat taken. Gotta look after group progress, all the paperwork to do during weekdays... Haha but good thing that NCOC is changed to sat. Cos sat night able to play mahjong! haha played twice only lar.
On holiday to Hong Kong 18 -22 Nov with family. Eat shop sleep enjoy! =) Get into the casino for the first time in Macau... ok lar. Love hols coz that's when I can just remove myself from everything and just enjoy. But once back to S'pore, things start rushing back again.
After that 1 week of off from work, went back busy busy coz Cindy's (the one I'm assisting) turn to take her block leave. Account opening and account opening. lolz and all those transactions to image over. But I enjoy busy work. Its so much better to sit there and act busy.
Cindy came back just in time for me to be busy with NCOC camp stuff... and then off to camp at... Queensway once again. Back there for NCOC after 5 yrs. Arrive there late on first day. Late, as in very late. Arrive when they were just finishing their supper. Haha. Just in time for meeting. Then prepare things for hike the next day. We're off to Ubin!
First time in ubin as an officer, things are definitely different, won't say its easier though coz there's more things to lookout for, but of course there's privileges. =) Am an Advance group instructor, so gotta walk with them while the planning committee sit and play games at the site. =P But ok lar good exercise. Reach harbour ground, the groups start building their basha then cooked their dinner while the group instructors set off for our privilege after all the temptations by the planning committee at the site. lolz. Set off as a group of tired instructors, came back with a satisfied smile lolz. My group made up a sardine baked rice... quite nice for survivor cooking =)
After dinner the real fun of ubin starts. Night hike to the rubber plantation for the solo walk. Pair up with Chun Fung to hide inside the route for any emergency. We're the first pair... Sierra Papa 1. Sierra Papa 2 Ma'am Xingjun and Weilong. Sierra Papa 3 Candy and Wee Eng. Lolz. Diffrent experience to hide inside the forest. Me and CF become the communication relay for Start point and End point cos they can't hear each other. Have fun playing with the walkie talkie for awhile lolz. When the trainees start walking... at first its ok... as it continues starting to get boring and all the mosquitoes... esp when Chun Fung forget about the mosquito coils and threw them somwhere due to 'emergency' lolz. Haha sad for him coz he's more prone to bites than me. We become so bored that me and Candy start calling each other than crap on the phone. Tried using private channel on walkie talkies but not sure are we using it correctly or actually everyone can hear us.. so abandon the idea. Quite hard to talk actually. Cos whenever a trainee walk pass, we're suppose to hide our presence. No talking, no movement, no light. Well just in case they mistaken us for some other beings. Only when we're suppose to stop the trainees we should take out the light stick and wave. To make our presence known before 'shouting' at them. lolz last time Sir Bao Tian never take out his light stick to wave before he ask me for what no. am I.
After solo walk, those who sign extra had fun playing with sand. Smuggling sand back to mainland. Haha... I just talk crap and well... who knows they really implement it oops. And then... its the night workout. Left right left right, roll call, samula and it goes on and on around ubin. Ended much earlier than expected.
Back to harbour ground.. Sleeping time. First time sleeping on the hammock. Candy on the second floor. lolz. Swing swing swing. So giddy lolz. Eventually fell asleep though keep waking up to loud loud lizard noise. Suddenly... 'All fall in! all fall in!' Thought morning already. Waking up. Then Xuanting appear "Cont' sleeping 2.45 only" Har. Feel like sleeping for such a long time already. Then why are they falling in? "They keep going toilet one by one get them up to go together lor. then Sir Bao Tian suddenly realise just now they never do powder bath so get them up to do." Dunno why I just feel so funny and start laughing. Laugh laugh laugh then go back to sleep. Think I'm half awake then also lolz.
After that its the usual stuff. Campfire night, suppose to be emo for the advance but in the end the officers get more emo. Truthfully speaking I'm not a very good instructor, unable to give to them what my previous group instructors in different camp irregardless st john or non st john had given to me. Perhaps its the busy days during these period or its my own approach towards them. Well will try to be a better instructor if there's a chance. The 'emo' session during/after campfire, think of how my group has survive fortunately and how some of them grown... but more of my flashbacks actually come from me fellow instructors, officers and some even further back in the memory lane of the previous camps, even back to days when we're still a trainees like them... Memories... haha didn't cry though. Don't think any of the trainees cried then as well. lolz. Mission failed.
DO from 3rd day night all the way till end of camp. Night DO is no fun. Tired. Gotta wake up every 90 mins to oversee their change over for sentry. Till the last shift I nearly can't wake up. And Brr.. Its cold. And then its the end of Camp!!!!
Haha... gave such a long blog on camp even though its not detailed. =X And its like half day gone! Think I'll start another post about some other stuff I wanna crap about. haha
